This tool measures the elapsed time between two calendar dates and reports the result as total days, with supporting week and month estimates. Because the calculation uses the actual calendar, it automatically crosses short and long months, leap years and year boundaries without you having to count them manually.
The optional working-days setting is useful when weekends should not count. It excludes Saturdays and Sundays, but it does not know the public-holiday calendar for a particular country, state, employer or workplace agreement.
If a project starts on 1 September and must be completed by 30 September, the calendar-day result shows the elapsed interval between those dates. If a supplier instead promises delivery within a number of business days, switch on the working-days option and remember that public holidays may still need to be removed separately.
For travel, the tool can compare the date you leave with the date you return. For events, it can show the preparation window between today and the event date. For records or contracts, it can help check how much time passed between two dated documents before you apply any legal or business-specific counting rule.
Different organisations count date ranges in different ways. Some deadlines count the number of days after an event, some include both the first and last day, and some exclude weekends or public holidays. This calculator provides a neutral mathematical interval. If the result is being used for a legal, employment, tax, court or contractual deadline, check the rule that applies to that deadline before relying on the number.
The calendar-day calculation is suitable for ordinary Gregorian calendar dates entered in the browser. Working-day mode removes weekends only. It does not adjust for public holidays, shutdown periods, local time-zone cut-offs or special rules such as “clear days”, so those need to be considered separately when relevant.
